August 07, 2019Deck Spotlight: Gwent's 3.1 Patch
A new leader and 256 balance changes later, Gwent's 3.1 Patch left the game as much as the player base shaken. Team Aretuza's content creators Green Cricket, Lothari, RyanGodric, shinmiri2 and Zade have come together at the beginning of the month to bring you some deck ideas to soothe your wait for our Meta Snapshot.
Nilfgaard Ardal
Out of all the Ardal aep Dahy lists out there right now, this is the one I’ve come to enjoy the most! While it is vulnerable to some unlucky mulligans and bricked hands, as it features Auckes and Serrit, Impera Brigade, and Portal, these combinations do allow for some incredibly strong rounds which will make you forget all about that.
That combined with strong Tactics in the form of Bribery and Vigo's Muzzle, as well as the ability to reuse them via Assire var Anahid and Menno Coehoorn, can make for devastating Round-3 plays. Just be careful with your mulligans, and don’t take the risk of bricking your combos if you don’t need to!

Northern Realms Commandos
This deck is one of very few NR decks that do not care about opponent removal. It has both a powerful long round with Draug as well as an explosive short round with Blue Stripes Commando carryover, making it one of the top-tier decks of the current meta.

Full Destruction Eithné
Lineup your opponent's units and burn them all! Play two long rounds utilising your Dryads and get last say for Round 3 to setup the best Geralt: Igni possible.

Greatswords
An old-school greedy engine deck that plays similarly to Beta Gwent X-Men, Greatswords makes a return to the game after the 3.1 Patch to lop off all the heads in one go! Making use of Skellige’s great-value bronzes and a fantastic long round, weather effects and damage dealers allow you to use Dagur Two Blades and An Craite Greatsword to keep ticking as long as they’re played early.

Syndicate
This deck combines the brand-new leader Sigismund Dijkstra with the greedy bronze card Townsfolk. The general game plan is to play your Crimes in Round 1 and 2, use your control when necessary and finish the game with as many and as huge a Townsfolk as possible. The trick is to create more with Igor the Hook and keep all your stacked Coins for the end. Besides all the other strong cards in Syndicate, this is the reason why this deck is so good: By play Crimes and stacking up on Charges, you simply outplay the Coin limit.
