Proactivity
A term that denotes a need to generate points independent of the opposing board state.
This term can take several forms but it is typically used to describe 1.) a situation in which the player must make a play onto an empty (the opponent has no units in play) or nearly empty board, 2.) the state of going first in a given round, or 3.) a classification of plays that focus on the player's own side of the board, such as developing an engine or in some cases boosting another allied unit.
Often, players will describe cards as a "proactive play," which simply means that the unit may be played as one of the first few cards of a round before the opponent has developed their gameplan.
Contrast proactivity with "reactivity," which describes the opposites of the above list. This is often considered to be desireable in Gwent, as it allows the player to react to what the opponent does, thus opening up their potential play options.
